Ľubovniansky Outdoor Museum

The outdoor museum presents a set of folk architecture buildings – houses, farm buildings, and seasonal field dwellings, technical monuments which were moved into the area from the upper Spiš and Šariš region. The exposure is dominated by national cultural monument the Greek Catholic church from Matysová from 1833 containing baroque iconostasis and rare free icons in the interior. Particular folk architecture objects with interiors represent a way of life, housing, celebrations and important annual and family holidays. Farm and technical facilities are installed with the help of original exhibits. Exhibition was open to the public in 1985. Removal of existing barriers in the area took place in 2011 – it is the first outdoor museum accessible to visually impaired and partially sighted visitors.
