The Town Castle is another National Cultural Monument in Banská Bystrica. It was build near the original mining settlement, which was situated in the area where the town stands today. There is a Gallery of Central Slovakia on the premises of the castle. You will find a collection of paintings here, mainly from the 20th century. Its content (more than 900 art works) is considered one of the most complexed of its kind.
