Slovak National Gallery offers wide selection mainly from the Slovak art containing all disciplines. Offers the most unique art expositions, which you can find in Slovakia. You can admire vast collections mainly of Slovak art from all areas. The whole collection of Slovak National Gallery consists of approximately 55 000 art works and the art of european origin is a part of it as well. Slovak National Gallery was established in the premises of the former building of the town police on Danube embankment and it is also called the Water barracks today. Modernization and building extension was performed during the years 1969 – 1977, which caused creation of a scarce architectonic creation on the embankment of the Danube – old building was joined by steel construction of bypass in the spirit of rational functionalism. Besides the vast collection of permanent exhibitions, Slovak National Gallery also offers variety of seasonal exhibitions and cultural events today.
