Open air museum in Bardejov Spa was opened as the first museum of folk architecture in Slovakia. It contains 24 residential, sacral, economic and technical buildings which represent folk culture and construction of the Slovak and Rusyn ethnicity living in the regions of upper Šaris and northern Zemplín. Most of the objects comes from the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century and typologically belongs to the wooden buildings of Carpathian type. The oldest and most valuable are wooden timber churches of eastern rite from the 18th century transferred from the municipalities of Zboj and Mikulášová. After a complete restoration of the open air museum in 2009 there were three important objects added – peasant houses from Bardejov and Richvald and a bell tower from Janovce which was built back in 1700.
