The Old chateau, a large threenaved basilica, lies on the perk of the mount Paradajz. It consists of two parts. The part above the ground used to be a place, where the dead were burried. In the underground part bones, that were dug whilst digging new graves, were kept. One of the chateau bastions was used as a jail and a torture room. Nowadays, there is a museum situated in the Old chateau. You will find here exposition of baroque plastic art, world-famous banskoštiavnické tobacco-pipe craft, or exhibition of black smith craft. The Old chateau bell-tower, opened to public during the summer, offers you an unforgettable view on the town.
