Carpathian beech forests

Forests untouched by human activity called primeval forests. Most of them have been included into the UNESCO list since 2007 under the name of the Carpathian beech forests. The main tree species is beech trees. The beech along with the silver fir creates rare beech or beech-fir communities. 40 m high beech trees live up to 150-200 years. Area of national park lies on the boundary of the Eastern and the Western Carpathians what is also reflected by the plant and animal species occurrence and their communities. more info...
