Stará Ľubovňa and surroundings

Stará Ľubovňa is the center of the northern part of the Šariš region, also called Zamagurie. There lies 35 km long the Pieniny Mountains range. The Pieniny Mountains belong to the most beautiful and most valuable natural area in Central Europe. A typical feature of the area consists in perpendicular limestone rock walls and turrets, attractive outliers and overhangs of various shapes and mysterious caves. Most dominant, most beautiful and most visited mountains are located on the Polish side – the Sokolica and the Three Crowns. Indeed, a lot of natural gems are concentrated on the territory of Pieniny – the Dunajec Canyon, the Lesnícky Creek Canyon, the Haligov Rocks, the Aksamitka Cave, the Kamienska tisina and the Pieniny lime trees area. The main attraction of the Pieniny and the entire Zamagurie is rafting down the Dunajec River on the Goral rafts. more info...
