Halfway between Ružomberok and Banská Bystrica, on the border of two national parks, Low Tatras (Nízke Tatry) and Greater Fatra (Veľká Fatra), there is a tourist centre Donovaly, situated in a splendid environment. Donovaly is not only the centre of winter sports, but also of hiking. With regard to the typology of tourist centers, Donovaly is a recreational community functional exclusively for recreational purposes, thus being the recreational community of the category 1. The community is found at the altitude of 960 m.s.l. Thus, it's possible to continue along the tourist marks from Donovaly, which will lead you unto ridges of these mountains. A sought-after tourist centre suitable for both winter and summer vacation term, characterized by beautiful environment, wide range of additional services and the surroundings abundant with attractions. Its suitable transport position, relatively high altitude, picturesque nooks, and wide selection of free time activities, made this centre to be one of the most famous tourist centre in Slovakia, while being mainly focused on skiing, cycling, hiking, and family vacations.
