Bardejovské Kúpele

Bardejovské Kúpele

Bardejov Spa came into existence very close to 17 mineral springs. The first mention of the spa appeared on the list of Béla IV. in 1247. The first spa buildings were constructed here in the 17th century. The most beautiful building is the Sanatorium Astoria with elements of Art Nouveau. Bardejov Spa experienced the greatest flowering in the 19th century. Russian Tsar Alexander I. and Princess Marie Louise of Austria have been treated here as well. The wife of Franz Joseph I., Austrian Empress Elisabeth, known as Sisi, who visited the spa in 1895 has been the most famous guest in the spa. The statue in the park in front of the spa house Astoria commemorates her visit.

Digestive system diseases, unspecified respiratory diseases and occupational diseases are being treated in the spa. There is an open-air museum, outdoor swimming pool and a ski slope with ski lift directly in the spa area.
